Best hooks for TikTok, Reels, and Shorts

The hooks that still work are specific: a result, a mistake, a contrarian line, or a question your niche is already asking. Vague hype is easy to skip.

Evergreen

Steal the shape, not the sentence

Watch ten videos in your niche that held you. Write down the first spoken line and what was on screen. You will see a small set of shapes: "Stop doing X," "I tried X so you do not have to," "The reason your X looks like Y," "Watch this before you buy X."

Then write yours with your actual subject. A hook about bitrate is not a hook about mindset. Say the noun.

  • Name the person: new streamer, Reel editor, small YouTube channel.
  • Name the pain in their words, not yours.
  • Put motion or a face in frame one. A static title card is a swipe.
  • Cut the warm-up. If the first line can move to second, delete the first.

Frequently asked questions

Do hooks feel scammy?

They feel scammy when the video does not pay them off. A clear promise you keep is just editing.
